About us

A local club with a global family behind it

We are ordinary people from Golders Green and the surrounding area who give a little time to make life better for our neighbours.

The Lions Club of Golders Green is part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service organisation in the world with over 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries. Our motto is simple: "We Serve".

In practice that means a mix of fundraising and hands-on volunteering. One month we might be running a quiz night; the next we are packing food parcels, collecting used spectacles or supporting a family referred to us by a local school.

Because we are all volunteers and our running costs are covered by members themselves, every pound raised from the public goes to the causes we support — nothing is siphoned off for administration.

We meet regularly in Golders Green for club business, planning and, honestly, quite a lot of tea and conversation. New faces are always welcome, whether you want to become a member or just lend a hand at one event.

How we work

Three things you can count on

Local first

Most of what we raise stays in Barnet and north west London, where we can see the difference it makes.

Open to everyone

Lions clubs are non-political and non-sectarian. Members come from every background in our community.

No hidden costs

Public donations fund charitable work only. Members cover the club's own running expenses.
